Udta Punjab! Only at Chawlas2UAE

Of course with a quirky title comes a quirky restaurant quietly nestled at the heart of Jumeirah Lake Towers.

Chawlas2UAE famously known as Chawlas Square has been a long managed restaurant in North India serving authentic Punjabi delicacies since 1960 with over 100 outlets globally, and now including the UAE.

It’s very rare that you would find a restaurant that serves authentic Punjabi food preserving its rich culture and heritage through their heavy creams, butter and more of the lip smacking food that I’ll leave you to read on about.

Expecting this to be just an ordinary Indian restaurant serving nothing extraordinary or rather innovative, we said we’d give it a shot and see what’s great about Chawlas Square – thankfully we were proved wrong!

The very kind gentleman who hosted us and talked us through the dishes from appetizers to the desserts was actually the owner of the Dubai branch – a humble being in deed, Mr. Arvinder thank you for the hospitality and A class service from your colleagues.

Moving on to the food, I don’t think this post would really do justice to the dishes because you must try it yourself. All the dishes have a very rich creamy texture to it that makes your mouth water instantly! I think that can be your cheat day! From the hot butter naans, the relishing lassi to creamy food – this is surely my go-to for Punjabi food.

Visit with no expectations! The restaurant is small but oh so comfortable giving one the feeling of visiting the small Indian stall back in India.

Why is Chawlas2 so prominent you ask? Well, there’s one signature chicken dish that teases your palette with its aromatic and rather mysterious flavours – we were stumped to know that the ingredients or masala is a long retained secret recipe of the Chawlas and until today has been seeing visitors especially come over for that dish.

We tried the dish and no way it was similar to any other we’ve tasted before, although by the looks of it it would seem like its chicken in white gravy, but when you taste it leaves you wondering as to what could the mysterious ingredients be that even the chefs preparing it aren’t aware. They just follow the instructions of preparation for this particular dish.

From the appetizers – my favorites were the Reshmi Kebab, Fish Irani, and the Peshawari Tikka.

From the main course – I’d definitely vouch for the signature Chawlas Special Creamy Chicken. Vegetarian friends can also enjoy this dish with Paneer. Also on my list of must try is the Mutton Kadai if you’d like medium spicy, and Kadai Paneer.

There’s so much more that I can just go on and write about, but there’s no fun in letting you try it out and let us know your feedback.

From the desserts – you visit an authentic Punjabi restaurant and not taste their kheer – are you kidding me?! Go for the kheer! That’s when you’ll relish true Punjabi flavours and end it on a sweet note!
