Brunch at The Movenpick Hotel Bur Dubai

Brunches everywhere usually seem similar, but this brunch at The Movenpick Hotel Bur Dubai was unique in its own way!

Have you heard of mixing art with food? Well yes, that's what their brunch was about! 'The art of brunch' - as they'd call it. Hosted by The Fountain restaurant on the Ground floor of the hotel, the ambience seemed casual and refreshing with the beautiful sun shining over the open roof of the hotel.

On a lazy Friday, one would probably prefer listening to soft jazz and enjoying lunch, and the hotel offered just that. A pianist playing some great tunes whilst we brunched away!

Moving on to appetizers, there was a variety to choose from, different cheese, charcuterie, to cold cuts and salads. We started off tasting each dish, and have to say the cold fish salad was the best appetizer to start with. It seemed like 'White Hamour' fish cooked and seasoned with herbs and lemon and sweet onion on the side.

Fish with red grape is a great combination, we ordered for the Monarch red grape which was a soft bodied drink that goes well and is a must have before trying out the main course.

On finishing our starters, we were given a simple menu of main course to choose from. On the day we could choose between Beef and Yorkshire pudding, or a seafood platter. I chose to go in for the heavy versus light - as always! And chose the beef with Yorkshire pudding, while my partner chose Seafood platter. Don't be disheartened that this is all they have for main course. This was an additional of the main to choose from.

On the main course side, you have so much to choose from! There was Italian paella which was super tasty - it had probably every ingredient possible - from spices to sweetness and herbs. Just perfect if you wish to have rice. The spread included Thai, Japanese, Indian, and continental flavours to tease your palate.

The best out of the main for me would be the seafood platter that consisted of salmon, sushi rolls, shrimps, and lobsters seasoned with herbs and sweet gravy. The beef and Yorkshire pudding seemed too heavy for me to try out the other dishes available. Also, the pudding seemed too buttery that could have easily soaked 4 plies of tissues with butter! Not one to try, if you're health conscious.

For us to end our affair on a sweet note, we were blinded by the spread of desserts available - you name it and they have it! From chocolate mousse, cakes, to gummy bears! Yes, gummy bears!

Overall, the brunch was a great one with a spread of culinary variety. The Art of Brunch runs from 12 noon to 4:00 pm for only AED 177 inclusive of soft drinks, AED 247 including unlimited wine and beer or AED 297 including unlimited house beverages.
